Frequently asked questions

What do you do, exactly?

We do personal financial coaching. Think of us as a fitness trainer for your wallet. We provide no judgments and candid conversations and guidance on money matters.

What is a financial coach?

A financial coach helps clients with money management and to develop healthy money habits. Financial coaches educate their clients on the basics of personal finance and work with them to create a financial plan that reflects their goals.

Who is Financial Momentum coaching for?

Financial Momentum can help anyone at any stage of life. From young professionals, to married with kids, to preparing for retirement - we are here to guide you. We even offer special coaching (and discounts) for students in high school and college. We also offer personal financial training for employees of organizations.

Why do I need a coach? Can't I do this on my own?

You could follow the steps to financial peace on your own, but you could lose interest, get overwhelmed, or sidetracked by life. A financial coach keeps you accountable and on track. The question you should ask yourself is how badly do you desire to stop living paycheck to paycheck and to get out of debt.

Think of your financial coach as a personal fitness trainer at the gym. You could go to the gym by yourself to workout, but you would miss all the benefits that a trainer provides: perspective, encouragement, accountability, motivation, and experience.

How can financial coaching help me? Who is it for?

Financial Momentum can help you in whatever situation you are in, including:

  • budgeting

  • getting out of debt

  • preparing for financial emergencies

  • paying off student loans

  • saving for retirement

  • building wealth

  • saving for college

  • and many others!

How do I pay for financial coaching if I am broke? Do you do payment plans?

We don't want you to go into debt, so we will not do payment plans. But we will work with you. Consider it your first lesson in personal finance.

Will I be able do fun things with my money if I am coached?

You will absolutely be able to have fun. Budgets and financial coaching do not equal boring. In fact, with a coach you will discover a new found freedom while enjoying life. We will work together so that you can do things that you enjoy.

What should I expect? What happens after I sign up for coaching?

  1. We will meet together and assess your financial health

  2. Your coach will review your assessment and identify areas to improve

  3. We will develop an action plan together that will show you what you need to do

  4. Follow your action plan

  5. Regularly meet with your coach to keep you on track to reach your financial goals

How long do I need a financial coach?

You can have a financial coach as long as you desire. Schedule your coaching sessions ahead for as long as you would want. As you are coached, you will learn good financial skills and habits that will guide you for the rest of your life! The idea is that you will develop those skills and habits and use them long after you are done being coached.

How do I pay? How do you bill? When do I pay?

Payment can be made in several easy ways:

  • Cash

  • Check

  • Apple Pay

  • Google Pay

  • Pay Pal

Payment is due before the first coaching session begins.

Where do we meet?

We want you to get the most out of financial coaching, so we will work with you to find the most convenient place to meet. It can be practically anywhere - coffee shop, public library, or some other pre-determined location. We can even meet virtually by video chat. We typically do not meet at homes due to the nature of distractions.
